Lake Phelps is a shallow lake with an average depth of 4.5 feet and a maximum depth of 9 feet, the perfect place for Kayaking! Its waters are "gin clear" while most area streams and lakes are murky. Not fed by streams, the lake depends upon rainfall, making it one of the cleanest lakes in North Carolina.
You don't have to be an expert to enjoy paddling with us. Our Kayaks are sit-on top yaks, made by world famous Malibu Kayaks. They offer comfort, stability, storage and safety. Each Kayak is 33 inches wide and has a 19 inch high padded seat. Our fishing Kayaks are Stealth 12's, with a weight capacity of up to 450 pounds!
Whether you are experienced and want to grab a fishing pole to go after largemouth bass or if you just want to paddle around the lake we can accommodate you!
The price seen is per person / kayak. Each Kayak rental comes with a paddle, and personal floatation device.
Lake Phelps Kayak Rentals
$50 kayak rental fee per day per kayak

Rental of kayaks is dependent upon availability and weather. Kayak rentals will not be permitted on days when the wind is out of the south causing the lake to be choppy and not suitable for kayakers.
Please request rentals at least 24 hours prior to arrival.
**All Kayak rentals require our release form to be signed by an individual over 18 years of age OR a parent or legal guardian.**
